Thoughts on the way from Guemligen to Rueggisberg

From the diary of the pilgrim James

I found modern symbols of my pilgrimage in Gümligen: A cloak and a staff are emblazoned on the church, symbols of St. James, who once walked this path. I am grateful for these two symbols; they remind me that as a pilgrim, I may sometimes be alone, but never lonely. The path to Rüeggisberg leads to Längenberg after crossing the Aare River – I imagined the climb to be somewhat less strenuous.

For reflection on the way

"At the ecumenical center in Kehrsatz, I met some fellow pilgrims from neighboring Europe. Their openness of thought, faith, and way of life was impressive. It was a give-and-take of friendship, and I felt like I was in my pilgrimage home."

Let me, Lord, in all the new days
Have time – for you
Have time – for me
Have time – for all the others

People are lucky enough to find an idyll everywhere – and if they don’t find it: create it!
