Thoughts on the way from Huttwil to Burgdorf

From the diary of the pilgrim James

The "Lueg" mountain range stretches before us, promising a magnificent view of the Swiss Mittelland. Ahead of us lies Burgdorf, the old Zähringer town from the Middle Ages. The people here are surprised by our pilgrimage gear. They're no longer used to it and have long since forgotten that pilgrims once came to medieval markets here. There must have been quite a few of them. But these days, Adrian and I are the exceptions, the odd ones out in this and other towns. "Weird characters, you know," Adrian replies to a cheeky Burgdorf boy and winks at me. The mischief and joie de vivre sparkle from Adrian's eyes and ignite the inner fire for this pilgrimage in me as well.

For reflection on the way

"On the 'Lueg' I enjoy the magnificent view of the Alps – how long will it be until the glaciers glittering in the sun melt away?"

Creation and the cosmos invite us to benevolently internalize the dynamic process of life. Chaos and order, disruption and wholeness, blockages and flow are all allowed. Say goodbye to the one-sided notion of having life under control every day – it is eternally in flux.
