Stations of the Cross

A 15-station Way of the Cross, created in 2003, is located on the path through the ravine between the plain in Kreuzlingen and the Bernrain pilgrimage church. This church was built as a pilgrimage church in 1388. From 1819, it served as the parish church for Emmishofen until St. Stephen's Church was built in 1903.
The destination of the pilgrimage is the miraculous cross on the tabernacle of the high altar. It is connected to a legend, which is captured in a painting inside the church (abbreviated and in modern language): In 1384, three boys were searching for wood in the forest. At the crucifix on Bernrain, one of the three touched the crucified Christ's nose and said: "Lord, let me blow your nose, then I will kiss you all the more." No sooner had he said it than his hand stuck to the Savior's nose. The others rushed into town. The perpetrator's mother and many other people marched in procession to the scene of the crime and promised a pilgrimage to Maria-Einsiedeln. Then the hand was freed.

The Way of the Cross invites you to reflect or walk in silence.
