Thoughts on the way from Märstetten to Tobel

Diary of the Pilgrim James

There's no question of giving up today. Instead, I enjoy the numerous fruit trees for which Eastern Switzerland is so famous. During a brief rest to rest my feet, I meet Elsa Müller. With a smile, she hands me a cup of naturally cloudy must, as fruit juice is called here. Both the smile and the juice strengthen me for the rest of my pilgrimage.

Food for thought

"I chatted with Erna Müller about pilgrimages. She hopes that with the donated cup of cider, she'll join us for a bit of pilgrimage, too. She's probably right; I thought about her for a long time."
