Thoughts on the way from Payerne to Lucens

From the diary of the pilgrim James

I hike almost the entire way along the La Broye River – pure relaxation for my now-weathered feet. The famous Henniez mineral spring lies on this stretch. As a pilgrim, am I entitled to a sip of mild, chilled water? I try my luck – and am amazed at the variety of flavors offered to today's hikers: mango, passion fruit, kiwi, with lots of carbonation, little carbonation, or even nothing at all… And yet, nothing is as refreshing as pure water, which can quench your thirst!

Something to think about along the way

"The noise of the fighter jets that accompanied me today bothered me. How great must the fears of women and children be when these planes approach on combat missions. I wish for more peace in this world, so that these peacebreakers and fear-mongers are no longer needed."

Peace, the greatest good on earth, very often comes to the heart only through solitude.
