Freiburg offers two interesting water trails: a circular route around Lake Perolles and its nature reserve, and the Three Rivers Circular Trail. Both feature informative information panels. Some stops on the Three Rivers Circular Trail can be easily integrated into the Way of St. James leaving Freiburg. A section running practically parallel to the route is even more attractive than the signposted Way of St. James.

Starting point
City of Fribourg, see map online. If you only want to hike the section that practically coincides with the Way of St. James, start behind the Villa Beau-Site (at the end of the St. Nicolas-de-Flüe route, the "Cliniques Villa Beau-Site" terminus of bus no. 7 from Fribourg train station) and follow the path to the Sainte Apolline bridge. There you'll rejoin the signposted Way of St. James.
