Thoughts on the way from Brünig to Brienz

From the diary of the pilgrim James

Yesterday, after the exhausting climb, still full of doubt, today I'm filled with hope that I will reach my goal after all and continue on the more than 1,000-year-old Way of St. James. Why give up when I know: At the end of my journey, I'll have them back, all the comforts that modern society can offer me. I'll appreciate them more deeply again—and I'll be able to marvel at and enjoy the little things again.
The unique view of the Bernese Alps was worth the effort of the climb. I'm always amazed at how pristine, authentic, and captivating mountains and glaciers can be. A far cry from a virtual illusion.

Ponder

"I am overwhelmed by the mountains and lakes and allow this gift from God to work on me. As I descend into the valley, energies are released."

Give yourself a breather for your soul out of responsibility for a more humane world. Invest your talents in the bank of pause as resilience for the unique dignity of every human being. Trust in the power of your existence, because God's name means: I am here!
