This list of objects is by no means exhaustive. The author crossed Switzerland on foot several years ago along the Way of St. James. For this compilation, he retraced the route by bicycle and noted what he saw and noticed. He also considered pilgrims from abroad. Therefore, there are occasional references that might seem obvious to historically and culturally well-versed Swiss. As commissioned, this book is initially limited to the route between Constance and Geneva.

The information on most of the places and routes on the following pages is available online. This has become a standard tool for travel preparation. Since details regarding individual stations, opening hours, and timetables are subject to change, reference is made to the respective websites. This applies even where not specifically stated.

Local tourist offices usually have a wealth of information and are happy to provide it promptly. You can find these organizations via www.google.ch by entering the place name as a search term.

Public transport timetables are available on the Swiss Federal Railways website: www.sbb.ch

The inventory of historic transport routes in Switzerland contains a wealth of valuable and thought-provoking information about the routes traveled, even outside the Route of St. James, which is the focus here. The entire documentation is freely accessible online: www.ivs.admin.ch/

We hope that this companion can enrich many pilgrimages!
